In conjunction with Los Angeles Center of Photography's STREET WEEK, Gus Powell will do a lecture and 1 day workshop. This workshop will explore the many practices that can live under the umbrella of “street photography” with an emphasis on both the physicality and intentionality of the work. We will discuss “taking” and “making” pictures; hunting and gathering, visual communication, poetic storytelling, and other themes as we move from making singular strong images towards creating a body of work.
Beginning with a overview of each students history and a critique of their current work, the workshop will then push forward to working on the street; and conclude with a focus on editing and sequencing to communicate a specific point of view.
